M.I.R.A Project in Reggio Calabria: Free Barrier-Free Educational Experiences

Inclusive museum workshops bringing everyone together to explore Reggio Calabria’s heritage

The M.I.R.A Project in Reggio Calabria offers free barrier-free educational experiences designed to make museum learning accessible to everyone. Specifically, it was developed by the Special Educational Area to support visitors with complex communication needs. The initiative uses Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) tools, visual aids, and inclusive materials.

Starting on October 25 and continuing until May 30, inclusive museum workshops take place twice a month, with a maximum of 20 participants per session. During these sessions, attendees can explore Prehistoric life, interact through tactile games, reinterpret the Riace Bronzes, and experience immersive augmented reality tours.

Moreover, each session fosters creativity, collaboration, and active participation, transforming the museum into a space of shared discovery and cultural enrichment. M.I.R.A Project ensures that all visitors, regardless of ability, can enjoy interactive learning and feel part of the local cultural community. By combining innovative methods with hands-on activities, it opens doors to history, art, and technology, offering unforgettable, inclusive experiences in Reggio Calabria.
