Piazza Sant’Agostino, officially named Piazza Carlo Mezzacapo, is known by locals after the historic Sant’Agostino Church that overlooks it. The square is named after Carlo Mezzacapo, a hero of the Italian Risorgimento. He was the brother of Luigi Mezzacapo, to whom the nearby former military barracks are dedicated.
